It is hard to believe it is almost two years since the pandemic began, having such a devastating impact locally and globally - and changing the landscape of how fire and rescue services have delivered their work. Now we are seeing a lifting of restrictions, I am sure we hope to see a more settled period in which we embed the new ways of working that have emerged over the pandemic period. Perhaps for a final time, I would once again like to take this opportunity to thank everyone across the fire and rescue services who has gone that extra mile to support their colleagues and local communities in many ways. I hope this innovative, flexible, and public focussed approach to the breadth of our role will continue as we adapt to whatever event we find ourselves dealing with next. Whatever that might be, NFCC will continue to offer leadership, guidance, and support as we move forward.
