US startup Breeze Airways took delivery of the first of 80 Airbus A220 aircraft, which will begin commercial service in the 2022 second quarter. The Utah-based carrier's A220-300 cabin is configured in a two-class 126-seat premium cabin layout, comprising 36 business and 90 economy seats fitted with in-seat power and USB ports for all passengers. Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings completed the transition to bring operations of Southern Air under a single operating certificate. With the addition of Southern Air, Atlas Air was able to add Boeing 777 and 737 aircraft to expand its global footprint. Toronto-based regional Porter Airlines finalized sale/lease-back deals for 14 Embraer E195-E2s, for delivery in 2022-2023, with Azorra Aviation (5, plus 5 options), Falko (5) and Elevate Capital Partners (4). Spirit Airlines will lease 20 Airbus A320neos from SMBC Aviation Capital, including 14 via sale/leaseback for delivery in 4021-3022 and six direct placements in 3022-1023. American Airlines selected the Thales AVANT IFE system for its new Airbus A321XLRs and Boeing 787-9s that will operate transcontinental and international routes. The order will make American the launch customer for Thales' Optiq display screen.
