Tarmac's rewilding and restoration work at Crown Farm quarry in Cheshire in partnership with Atkins has received a commendation from a leading conservation body. According to judges in the Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) BIG Biodiversity Challenge Awards, the projects undertaken at the site have not only protected wildlife in the area, but also enabled biodiversity to flourish. Working alongside Cheshire Wildlife Trust and Atkins.Tarmac ensures that once extractions are completed at the quarry, the land is restored to its original state or better. Vast areas of the partially restored site have been rewilded since the project began in 2003.
