ABSTRACTA simple method is described for the serological identification of Salmonella O antigens by capture of the lipopolysaccharide antigens on polymyxin‐coated polyester cloth followed by immunoenzymatic detection of the captured O antigens using rabbit Salmonella O antisera and an anti‐rabbit IgG‐peroxidase conjugate. By using a strip of polymyxin‐coated cloth, it was possible to characterize a given isolate with multiple antisera dot blotted on the strip. Conversely, the same format enabled the simultaneous characterization of multiple isolates with a given antiserum on a single strip.
