Ni-based brazing filler metals have been used in a variety of applications such as industrial heat exchanger, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler, and so on. These filler metals are mainly classified into two categories, i.e. pastes (powders) and foils. There are few studies on the effect of morphic differences between foil and paste on brazeability. Since it is very important to clarify such effect from engineering point of views, we investigated the effect of morphic differences between foil and paste on brazeability with spreading and gap-filling test. As a result, pastes showed better wettability compared to foils especially for austenitic stainless steel, AISI 316 with spreading test. On the other hand, a little bit differences between pastes and foils were found with gap-filling test.
