According to data published recently by Make UK in association with Raytheon UK, the UK defence, aerospace, shipping and rail sectors are enhancing their strategic importance to the long-term health of the UK economy, providing high-value high-skill jobs throughout the country. The data shows that these sectors account for over ￡12 billion in manufacturing output - almost 5% of total manufacturing - and support some 207,000 jobs directly and indirectly.
