Berlin—Ineos Styrolution, EGN Entsorgungsgesellschaft Niederrhein and Tomra announced a project to partner in converting post-consumer polystyrene (PS) waste into recycled PS for food packaging applications. A 40,000-t/y greenfield state-of-the-art advanced mechanical recycling facility, which is expected to be the "first large-scale facility of its kind," will be built by EGN in Krefeld, Germany, the companies noted. Start-up is expected by mid-2025.
