Bioindication assessment of two areas in the Taganrog Bay (Sea of Azov) was carried out using biochemical parameters (activity of antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase and catalase), aminotransferases, cholinesterase, albumin content, level of oxidized proteins and lipid peroxidation) in the liver of the round goby Neogobius melanostomus. Oxidative damage of hepatocytes and protein metabolic restructuring found in the liver of the round goby from the area of the Belosaraiskaya Spit demonstrate an ecologically unfavorable state of this region.
