Thermal Engineering Department, Tsinghua University, Beijing,China 100084 The numerical simulation for a freezing liquid-saturatedporous media in a vertical cylindrical cavity under the third kind ofthermal boundary condition is reported in this paper. It shows thatthe effect of natural convection in the liquid phase decreases thefreezing layer thickness and the freezing front has a wave shapeinstead of a stable plane, with one or more pair of eddy cells. Thisindicates a fractal existence.
