According to the nomenclature of international non-proprietary names (INNs) established by the World Health Organization (WHO), the INNs of certain hypnotic drugs end in the common stem -clone or -pidem (1). As of 30 November 2022, we have identified 2 drugs whose INN contains the common stem -clone: zopiclone and its S-enantiomer eszopiclone (Noxiben°, see p. 98); and a single drug containing the common stem -pidem: zolpidem (1).
