Electricity system operators must evaluate overall system reliability and contributions of individual suppliers in order to avoid costly blackouts. This is necessary for system consistency assessments and for optimal capacity planning to decide whether to include a generator in the system. Knowing the contribution of an individual supplier is important in deciding allocation of scarce resources. Individual plants can easily assess their contribution as it is independent of others' contributions. For renewable energy, the situation is more complicated since generating capacity at different sites is to be considered together. In the case of solar and wind power generation, separate evaluation of suppliers is not possible. This article provides a general solution for evaluation of stochastic supplier contribution allowing for arbitrary stochastic relations between suppliers. Cooperative game theory is used to provide the Shapley value as the index of consistency. A case study is provided to show the practical importance of the proposed approach. The case study is related to wind power of a German electricity system. Current evaluation rules do not take into account interdependencies of different sites and between suppliers. The proposed approach can overcome this problem.
