Cemex has launched a 3D printing solution that enables the use of conventional ready-mix concrete in construction projects, which is said reduces costs and time. The company has developed the solution in partnership with 3D construction printing and technology firm COBOD International. According to Cemex, current 3D printing methods rely on highly specialised and expensive mortars. It has introduced a proprietary admixtures family called D.fab, which transforms conventional concrete into a versatile material that can be tailored for 3D printing. The fluid and malleable concrete helps to facilitate the pouring process for 3D printing applications, the company said.
