A di-nuclear uranyl complex with the formula of [(UO2)(2)(L)(4)(H2O)(2)]center dot 4H(2)O (1) (HL = quinoline6-carboxylic acid) was synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Each U(VI) atom has typical pentagonal bipyramid geometry with two O atoms from uranyl, one O atom from one water molecule, and four O atoms from three L ligands. Complex 1 is linked by versatile hydrogen bonds to generate a 3D supramolecular uranyl organic framework.
