The design process for two garments dyed with two natural dyes. The apparel Design Framework (Lamb & Kallal, 1992) is offered as a model for applying the stages in the design process related to dyeing. Paper presented by poster at the 84th Textile Institute Annual World Conference. The creative process of developing one-of-a kind garments lends itself well to natural dyeing. Dyeing is a logical extension of the aesthetic concerns of apparel designers, and the dyeing process itself is a stimulant to creativity. Natural dyeing has the additional advantage of providing originality, as no two dye baths are identical.
