Everyone has a unique body odour. It varies with age, heat, hygiene practices, emotions (such as stress or pain), physical exercise, diet and the use of products including spices, alcohol and tobacco. Body odour can be altered with certain cosmetic products. The perception of body odour is subjective, and is therefore interpreted as more pleasant or unpleasant depending on personal criteria (1-4).An abnormal body odour can be unpleasant for the patient or those around them (4). Certain drugs can alter body odour through various mechanisms. This article reviews the main data gathered via our comprehensive search of literature.
