The British Motor Show returned to Farnborough Airport over the weekend of 18-21 August. An estimated 60,000 families and car fans attended; 20% higher than the previous running of the event. MiniWorld displayed some special Minis in the Classic Car section of the show, contrasting with the supercars and dealer displays in the two main display halls, which were mainly electric cars. There was plenty of live action, with drift cars and a series of driving shows, most of which featured Paul Swift, son of Mini stunt hero Russ Swift. Paul appeared in a wide variety of cars, clinching two Guinness world records for the tightest parallel park with an electric car and most donuts around a motorcycle performing a wheelie in one minute. He and his team put on a theatrical Italian Job stunt performance depicting three Minis stealing gold bars from a bullion van, along with a loud explosion and the iconic: "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off" echoing around the arena. Paul also performed a celebrity challenge "Carmonwealth Games"; a nod to the recent Birmingham Commonwealth Games where he was involved with car displays for the opening and closing ceremonies.
