On June 8, FAA updated its almost 29-year-old advisory circular providing guidance on how to develop and implement sound insulation programs (SIPs) to mitigate aircraft noise exposure in homes, schools, and medical and other facilities near airports. The new FAA Advisory Circular 150/5000-9B (Guidelines for Sound Insulation of Residences Exposed to Aircraft Noise) cancels FAA Advisory Circular 150/5000-9A (Announcement of availability - Report No DOT/FAA/PP/92-5, Guidelines for the Sound Insulation of Residences Exposed to Aircraft Operations), dated July 2, 1993.
