Nikon Corp. has announced the formation of California-based Nikon Advanced Manufacturing, Inc., which was scheduled to begin operations in July 2023 with Hamid Zarringhalam as CEO and Yuichi Shibazaki as co-CEO. Described as a new customer-centric digital-manufacturing-solutions entity, this facility will serve as the global headquarters of Nikon's Advanced Manufacturing business unit, which was established earlier this year. The launch marks a significant milestone in the Nikon Vision 2030 strategic plan, where the Japan-based company established the goal to become a key technology-solutions provider in a global society where humans and machines co-create seamlessly, with a strategic emphasis on digital manufacturing, according to Nikon officials. SLM, Morf3D and other Nikon digital-manufacturing investments will consolidate within Nikon Advanced Manufacturing, Inc. and the new company also will be responsible for existing AM business. This marks the first time in the company's century-plus existence that the global headquarters of a Nikon business unit will be located outside of Japan.
