Essen-BASF and Thyssenkrupp Uhde have completed a joint project to optimize Thyssenkrupp's proprietary Steam Active Reforming(STAR)dehydrogenation technology that produces propylene from propane feedstocks,or isobutylene from isobutene feedstocks(PCN,20 July 2020,p 2).The process was optimized to lower carbon dioxide(CO2)emissions and operating costs through lower energy consumption by up to 30%,while also cutting investment costs and enabling additional feedstock savings.
