No sooner were the Covid restrictions imposed in many ropeway countries over than the next problems appeared, namely the energy crisis, high rates of inflation, and a shortage of snow and water in many regions. Fortunately, the prolonged power cuts predicted by so many have not occurred so far. On the other hand, it must be said that media coverage of ski resort operations has been highly negative in many cases. There have been repeated claims that skiing has no future due to climate change and the high prices of ski passes. In addition to the various subjects relating to the ropeways themselves, OITAF is naturally also addressing such issues as the energy crisis, energy efficiency, climate change, labor shortages, sustainability, and so on. With regard to these topics in particular, it is always difficult to achieve a consensus among the various interest groups, i.e. ropeway authorities, operators and manufacturers.
