On Jan. 12, the UK-based eVTOL developer Bellwether Industries released a video of the maiden flight of a half-scale "Antelope" aircraft, which uses four ducted, embedded fans. The flight was one of eight test flights the company conducted in November in Dubai and follows a year of indoor tethered flights. The remotely-piloted test aircraft reached a speed of around 25 mph (40 kph) and up to 13 ft (4 m). Bellwether displayed the half-scale model of what it calls a "volar" - an eVTOL for private use - at the Dubai Airshow 2021 in mid-November. The company envisions that the full-scale Antelope, the design of which resembles a supercar, will be able to carry two people and cruise at altitudes up to 3,000 ft (915 m), with a trip price like a private jet. "Our goal is to make the vehicle for everyone in the future," Kai-Tse Lin, chief operating officer and co-founder of Bellwether, said in an interview with eVTOL.com.
