摘要

On 27 August 2020 the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) appointed a Working Group (WG) composed of high-profile technical-institutional professionals to provide the elements for assessments on possible alternatives for the stable crossing of the Strait of Messina. In the report, delivered to the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility (MIMS, ex MIT) on 30 April 2021, the WG declares that "the multi-span aerial solution is potentially cheaper than the single span one" and suggests developing the first phase of the Feasibility Project by limiting the comparison to the two crossing systems with single-span bridge and multi-span bridge. This article, sharing the views of the MIMS WG report and in compliance with the principle of continuous and gradual progress, aims to highlight, with numerous bibliographic references, some aspects that could be taken into consideration in the first phase of the Feasibility Project.
