New beverage can capacity totalling an estimated 5 billion cans a year was recently started up in the US by Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) as it reported volumes rising by 6 per cent in 2021. The global canmaker started commercial production at its new plant at Huron in Ohio in November where three lines have been installed, while two lines added at its plant at Winston-Salem in North Carolina recently started up. AMFs global beverage can shipments increased by 6 per cent in the quarter to the end of December, with growth of 6 per cent in North America and 11 per cent in Europe.
