Amsterdam—Gidara Energy said it has reached a "major" milestone with the receipt of a key environmental permit for its planned Advanced Methanol Amsterdam (AMA) facility (PCN, 21 June 2021, p 4). AMA, to be built at BioPark in the Port of Amsterdam, will utilize Gidara's patented HTW gasification technology to convert about 360,000 t/y of waste into 90,000 t/y of renewable methanol, and in the future, high quality circular chemicals. It is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
