This last year has represented a real rollercoaster for OSMA members. Just days after our last annual meeting, the Oklahoma Supreme Court struck down the state law capping noneco-nomic damages in professional liability cases. Yet just days later, we were successful in urging the Legislature to pass one of the largest increases ever in Medicaid reimbursement rates, as well as significant funding increases for a variety of public health initiatives. The drive to expand Medicaid continues to flow back and forth between those who collected signatures to put the issue on the ballot and lawmakers scrambling to come up with an alternative proposal after years of inaction. And at the time I write this, the state is just beginning to deal with the ravages of the COVID-19 virus.
