This paper presents specifications, architecture, design concepts and challenges involved in the hardware realization of Transmitter module with frequency programmability of the resolution of 10 mHz and power programmability with a resolution of 0. dB. BiCMOS [Biploar Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor] technology based Phase Locked Loop [PLL] IC is utilized in combination with advanced technique of Hybrid multilayer PCB fabrication for frequency synthesis. Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator [OCXO] is selected as reference oscillator to achieve the best in class phase noise performance over wide range of frequencies. The design is aimed at providing reconfigurable solution for development of various communication and navigation systems for space applications.
