摘要

Abstract In this work, hybrid composites reinforced with Washightonia trunk fibres (GW)/Pineapple fibre (PALF) in bio-phenolic matrix were fabricated with 50?wt% fibre loading of PALF:GW in the ratio of 35:15 (7P3G), 25:25 (1G1P), and 15:35 (3P7G). 7P3G hybrid composite with the greater proportion of PALF exhibited a maximum tensile strength and stiffness of 21.92?MPa and 4.36?GPa, which was 30% and 25% higher than the GW composites. Similarly, 7P3G and 1G1P showed better dimensional stability with the least changes in coefficient of thermal expansion as per the thermomechanical analysis. Thermogravimetric analysis results revealed that 3P7G displayed thermal degradation characteristics equivalent to the GW composite, where GW was higher in proportion than PALF. 1G1P showed a maximum weight gain of 22%, nearly similar to that of PALF composites during the moisture absorption test.
