Madrid-Repsol announced that a consortium led by Repsol, and made up of Enagas,Iqoxe and Messer, are working on the design and construction of the"largest"electrolyzer in Spain. The electrolyzer,to be built in the petrochemical pole of Tarragona,is expected to have a capacity of 150 megawatts of renewable hydrogen in the first phase.Commissioning is scheduled for 2025.In a second phase, expected to start in 2027,production capacity will be raised to 1 gigawatt."The electrolyzer will preferentially use renewable energy from the surrounding environment and will have the best technologies to minimize water consumption to produce renewable hydrogen and oxygen,"Messer noted.
