ISR REPORT: In 1954, a cable car with two-seater gondolas went into service as a link between the town of "Rudesheim am Rhein" and the Niederwald Monument. In 2005, the installation was completely refurbished and is now considered the most modern 2-seater gondola lift in the world. The 38 meter-high Niederwald Monument was built between 1877 and 1883. It was erected to commemorate the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 and the re-establishment of the German Empire.
