The heat transfer and thermal performance factor characteristics of reduced graphene-oxide/cobalt-oxide/water hybrid nanofluid with coiled wire inserts flowing in a tube have been investigated experimentally. The focus of previous studies has been on different types of hybrid nanofluids with twisted tapes, longitudinal strips, and wire coil inserts, without much attention being paid to rGO/Co3O4 hybrid nanofluids with coiled wire inserts. The experiments performed were at various volume concentrations (0.05%-0.2%), Reynolds numbers (2000-20,000), and three coiled wire pitches (69.73, 44.46, and 19 mm). The results showed that with the dispersion of phi = 0.2% particle loading, the Nusselt number increased by 25.65%, which was further increased to 62.58% at phi = 0.2% particle loadings with 19 mm coiled wire pitch compared to water. The friction factor penalty of phi = 0.2% nanofluid in the tube was 1.11-fold, with further penalty in the friction factor of 1.42-fold for phi = 0.2% nanofluid with 19 mm coiled wire compared to water. The thermal performance factor of all of the hybrid nanofluids with the combined effect of coiled wire inserts was greater than 1, which shows that the prepared hybrid nanofluids are proper and useful fluids in a turbulent flow. Equations to determine the friction factor and Nusselt number were developed for the flow of nanofluids under turbulent conditions.
