Even though I have loved animals all my life, I finalized my decision to pursue veterinary medicine in a split second. As I scrolled through the limitless undergraduate majors at Texas A&M University, I chose the first option with the word "animal" init—animal science. As a Filipino American who attended an all-girls Catholic high school located in the heart of Houston's Chinatown, I was shocked when I walked into a rodeo arena for my first college class.
