JEFF BEZOS-FOUNDED Blue Origin has acquired Honeybee Robotics. The terms of the deal, due to close in mid-February, will not be disclosed.With major operations in Longmont, Colorado, and Altadena, California, Honeybee will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Blue Origin, headquartered in Kent, Washington.Since 1983, Honeybee has delivered more than 1,000 advanced projects to government and industrial customers in a range of sectors, among them spacecraft and planetary exploration. Its robotic systems operate throughout space, in commercial launch vehicles and satellites and undertaking work on the moon, Mars, and Titan. Honeybee's experience in planetary robotics and mechanisms, drills, motors, actuators, drive electronics, and specialised space mechanisms complements Blue Origin's goal of making space flight routine, and its vision of opening space resources to benefit Earth, the companies said.
