MAN Energy Solutions (MAN ES) 2-Stroke is constantly working on improving the engine design, as well as prioritizing the safe continuous operation of MAN B&W 2-Stroke engines. These highly fuel-efficient engines with increasing combustion pressures and temperatures benefits from lubricants with matching high performance. The last couple of years, MAN ES has introduced engines for liquid natural gas (LNG), methanol (MeOH), ethane and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and with the global IMO 0.50% S limit and 0.10% S ECA, the low Sulphur fuel variants have increased considerably. The number of engine running hours spent in a low Sulphur regime have increased significantly compared to pre-2015 values and it will continue. This situation also call for lubricants, which are versatile enough in their formulation to cope with changing fuel variants and engine designs.
