OSHA has expanded inspections in healthcare facilities treating COVID-19 patients. The short-term increase in highly focused inspections is directed at hospitals and skilled nursing care facilities that treat or handle COVID-19 patients to better protect healthcare workers while the agency finalizes a healthcare standard. The agency's expanded presence in targeted high-hazard healthcare facilities began in March 2022 and will continue for 3 months. Through the enforcement initiative, the agency assesses employers' compliance actions taken, including read- iness to address ongoing or future surges.
