摘要

A comparison of the emissions of gasoline-ethanol fuel and compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel used in vehicles with spark ignition engine was done. Emission tests were carried out on 99 vehicles in Rio de Janeiro-Brazil, following the National Environmental Council resolution 418/2009. The vehicles were separated by groups, according to mileage: group 1∶1-50,000 km, group 2∶50,001-100,000 km, group 3: 100,001-150,000 km and group 4∶150,001-200,000 km. Emissions of corrected carbon monoxide and corrected hydrocarbons (HC_c), both for vehicles powered by gasoline and/or ethanol as well as those powered by CNG, were considerably higher in the case of vehicles with higher mileage. The vehicles powered by CNG are emitting more HC_c than the vehicles powered by gasoline and/or ethanol. The cost of using each fuel was evaluated for five regions in Brazil. The most economically viable fuel to be used in Otto cycles vehicles in Brazil is the CNG, considering the prices of the fuels in January 2021.
