This paper presents a new sample design for the evaluation of wetting and spreading behavior, which differs from sample geometries shown in literature. The initial application was designed for hot gas materials processed in a vacuum furnace for a gas turbine and can be configured for different applications. For this purpose, brazing cycle, material combination and surface finish can be varied. To verify the sample geometry the additive manufactured base material Haynes 282 is used in combination with the brazing materials Ni612, Ni660, Ni620 and ML4613. Various characteristics were shown, based on which a correlation between the shape and contour of the expanded brazing material (spread) with wetting and viscosity was demonstrated. In the case of the brazing material Ni612, a new observation was made.
