Discrete models are proposed and applied for the simulation of non-uniform FBG and fs-Laser inscribed FBG. The necessary modifications for their applications have been presented for chirped, apodized and Erbium-doped gratings for both phase-mask and fs-Laser inscriptions, with emphasis on the Transmission-Line Method. Numerical results have been derived and discussed, focusing on the fs-Laser inscribed gratings which have been additionally analysed and discussed for uniform inscription with variable duty cycle while the influence of inaccurate writing is assessed. Potential applications for the simulated gratings are discussed and justified by their numerical results.
