Two young anovulatory women being evaluated for primary infertility were found to have adenomatous hyperplasia of the endometrium. Induction of ovulation did not alter the existing endometrial pathology. One patient developed adenocarcinoma of the endometrium and required surgical treatment. The routine performance of an endometrial biopsy to assess endometrial hormonal response allows detection of easily overlooked more serious lesions.
