A garden is planted for pleasure.A Botanic Garden is planted for pleasure and education, both now and in the future.Long after the record keepers are compost, the records they kept will be used to investigate, inform, enlighten and remind those who follow.It is useful for every garden, small or large, to record the basic facts as stock management information i.e. to know where plants came from, when and where they were planted, when they flowered and fruited, when they died and the cause of death. If you're a home propagator, then recording propagation date, kind of material, quality of material, treatment used, success rate etc will, overtime, improve your technique and will inevitably improve the quality and quantity of your output. Relying on your memory is chancy at best and a complete waste of time and plant material at worst.
