AirVenture Oshkosh is rushing toward us,and with it the SPA Corn Roast. If you have not been, the Corn Roast is one of the highlights of AirVenture and one heck of a celebration. On Thursday evening during Ari Venture week some 700 seaplane pilots head for the "Big Top," the huge white tent adjacent to the amphibian parking area on Wittman Field to enjoy fresh corn on the cob and Wisconsin brats, games, music, a raffle and a spirited live auction. It's one of the largest events at AirVenture and we think one of the most enjoyable. If you are planning on coming to the Corn Roast, you should buy your tickets now as it's typically a sellout. Please call us or email CSR@seaplanes.org to reserve your spot at the table. The SPA team has been busy this spring working on behalf of the seaplane community. One of our major efforts was a recent extended advocacy tour of Alaska, during which we staged five separate seaplane safety training sessions across the state. More than 75 pilots had the opportunity to gain some extremely valuable in-water and classroom safety training, which was made possible by generous donations to the Seaplane Foundation. Credit goes to our incredible government partners that assisted SPA in providing the training: the FAA's Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau FSDOs; the Department of Interior's Office of Aviation Services; and the FAA's CAMI (Civil Aerospace Medical Institute) team, which flew up from Oklahoma to participate.
