Alcoa signs repowering contracts for Portland smelter. Alcoa Corp. has signed repowering contracts with three power generators for the Portland Aluminium Smelter in the Australian state of Victoria. The five-year repowering agreements with AGL, Alinta Energy and Origin will each begin on 1 August 2021, when an existing contract with AGL expires at the end of July. "After a year characterized by uncertainty, we are delighted to have clarity on the smelter's power supply," said the president of Alcoa Australia, Michael Gollschewski.
