In infrastructure projects such as road construction, 2 different products must be installed for stabilization when weak sub-grade soils are present: a geogrid to reinforce the granular layers of the sub-base and a nonwoven geotextile for filtration and separation. To increase the efficiency of construction projects, Freudenberg Performance Materials, Weinheim/Germany, offers a new geogrid composite. This new composite EnkaGrid Max C consists of a reinforcing grid bonded to a separation and filtration nonwoven geotextile. It is part of the Enka Solutions product series for civil engineering applications. When using this material, installation time can be reduced by 50. EnkaGrid Max C is made up of a biaxial geogrid bonded at intervals to a needle-punched nonwoven geotextile. The chosen bonding technique ensures a good interlocking of granular soils with the geogrid. It can be ordered in tensile strengths ranging from 20 to 80 kN/m and is supplied on rolls with a width of 5 m.
