With the increasing importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, primary aluminium smelters are finding alternatives to landfilling and/or long-term storage of hazardous waste materials such as spent potlining (SPL). Best practice recycling of SPL is achieved when the product manufactured from the recovered SPL has an end-of-waste status. Regain's HiCAL product, which is manufactured using recovered SPL, is an example of such a product.
