THE 2022 FIFA World Cup was underway as this issue of AIR International went to press. Of course, not all aviation fans are interested in football, but this huge event offered something for everyone - not least a branding opportunity for airlines. As the official airline of Germany's men's soccer team, Lufthansa flew players, coaches and support staff to their training camp in Muscat, Oman on November 14. The aircraft assigned to the flight - an Airbus A330 -sported a special livery intended to send a clear message to the world: #DiversityWinsl, the Germany carrier said. The special 'Fanhansa' livery was devised with Peter Phobia, a New York-based illustrator and animator. Diversity also topped the Brussels Airlines' agenda. The Belgian carrier has unveiled a new Trident - branded, for the first time, in support of both the men's and women's national teams, the Red Devils and the Red Flames. flydubai, meanwhile, nailed Argentina's colours to its mast, carrying the national team from Abu Dhabi to Doha for the tournament. The Dubai-based airline unveiled a special livery on two of its latest Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft as part of its regional partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
