In Brazil, bookings for coil are weaker than forecast. However, this failed to stop the mills from pursuing bullish pricing positions, in January. End-users are purchasing only for their immediate requirements. They are questioning the sustainability of current market prices. Coil producers are likely to try to increase their selling values in February, encouraged by elevated global prices for coil and slab. Mill delivery lead times are between ffve and seven weeks. Import opportunities are expected to dwindle in 2023. Bearish importers anticipate the reintroduction of antidumping measures.
