Since the launch of the first satellite in 1957, space activities in Russia have been in the government domain. However, the rapid growth of private space business in the U.S. is prompting an entrepreneur to try his luck with a startup company in Russia. The 3.5-m (11.5-ft.) Nebo 25-"nebo" is "sky" in Russian-rocket lifted off from the Russian military test range in Kapustin Yar, in the lower reaches of the Volga River, on Dec. 23, 2021. Although the launch took place at a military facility, it was conducted by a Russian commercial venture-Success Rockets-that has its eye on creating its own satellite constellation.
