摘要

Membrane decorated with biocides is an effective way to suppress biofilmgrowth. However, their immediate biocidal effect usually suffers from asignificant decline due to the irreversible consumption of the biocides. Here,a smart nanofiltration membrane is reported with rechargeable antibacterialcapability that is fabricated by a facile interfacial polymerization via 3-aminophenylboronicacid and trimesoyl chloride on a polysulfone substrate.Biocides bearing diol groups can be grafted onto the membrane surfaceunder neutral/alkaline condition and then released from the surface underacidic environment, due to the pH-responsive feature of boronate estercomplexes. The resultant membrane exhibits integrated properties of fastbacterial inactivating efficiency, rechargeable antibacterial capability, andimpressive stability. In addition, the achieved membrane shows remarkableseparation efficiency to dye/monovalent salt system. The successful fabricationof the membrane with rechargeable anti-bacterial property provides newinsights into the development of pH-responsive and sustainable antibacterialmembranes.
