The UK's mineral production, consumption and trade has been revealed in a new report showing that sand and gravel were worth £934m to the UK economy in 2019. The figure, outlined in the United Kingdom Minerals Yearbook 2020, reflects the rising importance of sand and gravel which in 2013 were worth £584m to the UK economy.The yearbook has been published by the British Geological Survey in partnership with the Confederation of British Industry Minerals Group and the Mineral Products Association.
