Hydrogen is poised to play an essential role in the global energy transition, and it holds enormous potential in helping sectors-from mobility to power generation-achieve deep decarbon-ization. However, there are still many hurdles to overcome to build a sustainable and prudent hydrogen economy in North America. First and foremost, the production capacity of "blue" and "green" hydrogen will need to be expanded beyond what it is currently. Although progress has been made in recent years and will undoubtedly continue as the build-out of renewable energy capacity accelerates, upward of 95 of all hydrogen produced today is "grey," meaning it is not emissions-free.
