Abstract Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) following left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation is a rare complication. Venovenous (VV) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is used as a treatment for severe ARDS and pneumonia. We report the successful use of VV ECMO for ARDS Klebsiella pneumonia following urgent LVAD HeartMate 3 implantation.
